Selam Restaurant & Lounge
first time trying Ethiopian food and it was amazingggg! definitely a new go-to for takeout. food was packaged well and it was ready by the time i got to the restaurant. super generous portions! i got the vegetarian combo platter for one but i got two very hearty meals out of this. each of the dishes was uniquely delicious and the injera was interesting in the best way—amazing texture and soaked up the flavours so well! love love love!

Fassil Restaurant
I had a fantastic and very reasonably priced meal at Fassil yesterday. Can’t recommend them enough! The dish I had was their veggie combo, and I loved every single offering, especially combined with the taste of injera. The owners were very warm and welcoming also. I enjoyed the music playing in the background, and the interior, however simple, was cozy and relaxing. There was a bit of a smell coming from the men’s washroom but it’s an old building so the owners must have little control over it. I can’t wait to visit Fassil again and try their other dishes.

Lalibela African Restaurant
Got the vegan platter to go. We ordered ahead and she packaged it when we arrived so it would be fresh as possible. Chatted the few minutes while we waited. So friendly and wow was the food good. Highly recommended. I'm looking forward to going back for a meal in person.

You need not look any further for great food and service! WHAT A EXPERIENCE The food is delicious and the owners are lovely. Authentic dishes and presentation is spot on. The price point was a shock. Two of us ate for $22Is it weird to go for 2 meals/day for the rest of my life?Sorry about my picture we started eating before I remembered to take it :)

Zehabesha Traditional Ethiopian Restaurant
Good authentic Ethiopian cuisine. Food is flavourful.I had the Zehabesha TIBS; I'm not a fan of the bone-in meat (lamb) pieces, but otherwise it's tasty.

Gojo Ethiopian Restaurant
When you don't know anything about Ethiopian food, Gojo is a choice you can't go wrong. Gojo special and Yegul Tibs are top dishes. Combining injera with any of the ingredients on the platter can create a wonderful experience. The owner Salomon is very enthusiastic. He told us a lot about himself and the restaurant's history. I think this dining experience is the best reward for us coming out of the snowstorm.

amazing beef tibs, super flavourful! the service was great as well. my only issue was the wait time, it took very long for us to get our food. but definitely want to come back and try the vegan food here. i recommend getting a meat dish and one of the vegan dishes to balance out your meal.

D'Afrique Restaurant & Bar
It remains just as I remember. Quality well seasoned dishes, not too spicy. Injura with vegetarian options from menu my favourite.Humble, relaxed and comfortable place. Staff, we talked to, were great cultural ambassadors of Ethiopia. Looking forward to the specialty coffeeshop, when it opens on Bank and (I think) Cooper.

Ethiopian cuisine plus
So delicious! I loved the lamb injera, as well as the lentil and tibbs. We got the buffet, but the combos have a lot of variety and would be awesome for takeout. Hope this place becomes a St. John’s mainstay!

Hirut Cafe And Restaurant
Great place to listen to music (nearly every evening), and comedy (once a month). Home cooked Ethiopian food on offer plus drinks and a rich cup of coffee, all at very reasonable prices. A family owned place where the vision is to create a welcoming music venue in the east end! Easy to get to and plenty of street parking.
